Make sure to always report your full fees on your claims. There are several reasons to do so all of which are beneficial to your practice. PPO plans may decide to increase their allowable fees and if a claim is submitted with the older and lower fee you may not get the full reimbursement. Since payers track fees reported on claims and use them to create allowable fees, reporting the improper fees could possibly lower the chances of fees being increased. Some patients have multiple plans and reporting the contracted fee could lower the secondary insurance’s reimbursement. In fact, certain secondary payers can pay up to the practice’s full fee. Lastly, reporting the proper fees can allow the dental practice to compare plans and decide which type of insurance plans are more beneficial to the office.
